Pawprints In The Garden

My darling lives in a world
that is not mine
An old child misunderstood...
out of time
Timeless is the creature
who is wise
And timeless is the prisoner
in disguise

Oh who is the beauty...
who is the beast
Would you die of grieving
when I leave
Two children too blind to see
I would fall in your shadow...
I believe

My love is a man
who's not been tamed
Oh...my love lives in a world
of false pleasure and pain
We come from difference worlds...
we are the same (my love)
I never doubted your beauty...
I've changed

-Stevie Nicks, "Beauty and the Beast"

And when I call
Will you walk gently
Thru my shadow
The ones you dream of
The ones who walk away
With their capes
Pulled around them tight
Cryin' for the night
Cry for the nightbird

Fandom Craziness

Today's Dork Tower is a must for all bloggers. (and addicted IMer's - you know who you are)

Oh, and here's a little SG-1 snark. (For those of you who like that sort of thing)

Interview Fun

I was watching an Amanda Tapping interview (Major Samantha Carter on Stargate SG-1) and was highly amused when she said, "Our house was built by Papa Smurf on crack."

I wonder if she's ever visited the Zen resort?

Odds and Ends

Some good news! I have a job. The bad news - It's 100% commission, with no established territory. But, at least I *may* be paying some bills soon without continuing to deplete my savings. I really don't have much choice. I send out resumes and/or talk to dozens of companies each week with no response, so I better take what I can get and make it happen. I like the people, the company, the philosophy, etc. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully, good.

My neighbor's garage has finally got walls and a roof. Unfortunately, I can no longer see Working Men (tm).

Take-home Law exam is complete. Final group paper in process. Class is over tomorrow - thus the business core is complete. Computer programming is next. This is a Very Good Thing.

Help!

Reasonable are is the standard of care for usual activities.
A) True
B) False

I really have no clue. Sheesh, I hate legal jargon.

Founding Fathers

In light of my attempt to read and *understand* the US Constitution, I bring you this:

All kidding aside, my current class on business law has definitely made me appreciate what amazing foresight these gentlemen had. Off to do the take home final - which will probably consume my week since I have to look up every other word... And I thought it was written in English. Sheesh.

Window of Opportunity

In between preparing a case brief and presentation on sexual harrassment and writing a group paper on dumping toxic waste, I've been getting hooked on Stargate. Sam Carter lives the kind of life I dreamed of as a kid, but didn't think was remotely possible. However, I tried. Wanting to be an astronaut, I studied aeronautical engineering in college. When I graduated, there were so few jobs in aerospace due to lack of funding, that I went into automation. A few years later, I got my pilot's license and was all set to take the physical to join the Navy as a Naval Aviator. (I wanted to fly F/A-18's - off aircraft carriers, no less) Unfortunately, I found out that I had a serious illness and couldn't go. By the time that cleared up, I was too old to join. Sometimes I wonder if I've been disappointed ever since. Real life is what happens while we're planning something else. So, I fly a joystick attached to "Flight Simulator" and watch Stargate and try to find a new job in automation - which is corporately underfunded today. Maybe I should look into aerospace jobs. Life's funny that way.

Stargate Fic Recs

I've been poking around some of the SG-1 fic sites and found some good stories. Here are a couple:
Single Candle - Jack needs a psychiatrist after a particularly harrowing mission.
Crossing the Line - Jack gives Sam a birthday present - The first in a trilogy.

As usual, I like long stories with lots of character development and plot. Enjoy, I did.

And if you have any recs of your own, I'm listening.
